New details have emerged in the tragic deaths of Alberto Rolon, his wife Zoraida Bartolomei, their sons Adriel, 9, and Diego, 7, and their three dogs, all victims of a chilling murder plot. The complex scheme allegedly involved Bartolomei’s workplace lover, Nathaniel Huey Jr., and his fiancée, Ermalinda Palomo, according to police documents obtained by multiple news outlets.
The police reports reveal that Palomo discovered Huey Jr.’s affair with Bartolomei and orchestrated an elaborate deception. She created fake social media accounts, posing as members of a Mexican and Bulgarian criminal organization. Palomo convinced Huey Jr. that his life was in danger and that Bartolomei was a “mole” within the organization that was plotting against him.
“Communications with Nathaniel eventually lead Ermalinda to convince Nathaniel he was under constant surveillance by the organization and that the leaders questioned his loyalty and trustworthiness,” the police documents state, as reported by NBC 5. “Nathaniel’s response seems to indicate he fully believed the information being fed to him by Ermalinda, but did not know Ermalinda was the person he was communicating with.”
Palomo played a key role in orchestrating the murders. On September 14, just two days before the crime, Palomo, using her cartel alias, convinced Huey Jr. that Bartolomei was planning to attack him. Together, they plotted Zoraida’s murder, meticulously researching the neighborhood and planning their entry and exit from the family home.
According to the police reports, Palomo instructed Huey Jr. to make the crime scene appear like a botched burglary and reassured him by saying, “Many murders go unsolved.” On the night of the murders, Palomo drove Huey Jr. to the scene, staying in the car while Huey Jr. allegedly carried out the killings. The family was discovered dead the following day.
After being questioned by police and initially released due to insufficient evidence, Huey Jr. and Palomo fled to Oklahoma. A police chase ensued after the pair exited a Walmart in Catoosa, Oklahoma. The chase ended with Huey Jr. allegedly shooting Palomo before crashing the car in an explosion. Huey Jr. died in the crash, while Palomo succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
In the final twist, police documents reveal that Huey Jr. allegedly confessed to his mother before his death, admitting his role in the killings. However, their attorney, John Paul Ivec, told ABC 7, “I do not know who [Huey Jr.’s] mother is and have no information as to his conversation with her or what she knew.”
