Lifelong Republicans Facing “Nightmare” After Supporting Kamala Harris in Campaign Ad

Two lifelong Republicans, Bob and Kristina Lange, who appeared in a campaign ad endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris, have found themselves at the center of a storm after facing severe backlash from supporters of former President Donald Trump. The Pennsylvania couple has been living what they describe as a “nightmare” after the ad aired, according to an interview with Philadelphia Magazine‘s Savvy Mainline on Sunday.

The trouble began when their pro-Harris ad was discussed on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” which quickly triggered an onslaught of online and phone harassment. “Last Tuesday, MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe’ aired and discussed one of the new ads. That’s when hell broke loose,” the outlet reported.

In the ad, Bob Lange, a farmer, revealed he voted for Trump in both 2016 and 2020 but explained that the January 6th Capitol attack made him reconsider his support. “Jan. 6 was a wake-up call for me,” he said in the ad. “He didn’t do anything to help us.” His wife, Kristina, echoed the sentiment, stating, “Donald Trump divides people. I’m voting for Kamala.”

Soon after the ad went live, a user on X (formerly Twitter), under the handle “Bad Hombre,” accused the Langes of being “trained actors” and Democratic donors. The user cited campaign finance records from a different Robert Lange and confused Kristina with a scenic artist with a similar name. This misinformation quickly went viral, igniting a wave of hate directed at the couple.

Despite the fact that the Langes did produce a low-budget horror movie titled Hayride to Hell on their farm, they clarified that they only had non-speaking roles as monsters and had no professional acting experience. Still, their business, Sugartown Strawberries, became a target of threats, fake one-star reviews on Google, and hateful messages on Facebook. Their voicemail was inundated with “shockingly profane” and “vicious” messages, according to the report.

The couple issued a Facebook appeal on September 26, urging their local community to disregard the false accusations. “We are currently receiving a barrage of messages, based in hate and untruths, to our business website, social media, and phone, and they have now begun leaving poor Google reviews about our business,” the message read. “PLEASE, do not give credence to these hateful, politically motivated lies. Our community knows our truth.”

Despite the overwhelming attacks, the Langes stand by their decision. “We have no regrets,” Bob told Savvy Mainline. “The Harris team asked us if we wanted them to take the ads down. I said, ‘Absolutely not.’” Kristina added, “We’re not backing down. I feel it’s just a matter of standing up for what I believe is right – and that’s my right.”
