Kendrick Fisher, 29, has been charged with the capital murder of his sister and 2-year-old niece following a tragic stabbing at the Knox Westchase Apartments on Richmond Avenue early Friday morning. According to police, Fisher allegedly took his sister, 28, and her young daughter hostage before fatally stabbing them.
The situation came to light when a concerned bystander flagged down Houston police, alerting them that a woman and child were being held hostage inside an apartment. Upon arrival, officers found the victims with multiple stab wounds. Fisher was discovered asleep on a couch, still wearing bloodstained clothing, police said. Authorities also noted that Fisher appeared to have injuries consistent with a physical struggle.
Joanna Fischer, the suspect’s mother, spoke out following the incident, expressing frustration over the police’s failure to intervene earlier. “I want to let y’all know how the police failed us,” Fischer told FOX 26. She revealed that her son had made violent threats against the family before, including threats to kill everyone, and had recently been released from jail. Fischer also mentioned that her son had a history of violent behavior toward family members.
At present, Kendrick Fisher is being held in the Harris County Jail with a bond set at $200,000. The case has raised serious concerns about the handling of threats and the potential for violence, especially given Fisher’s history and recent release from incarceration.
