Prince Harry has revealed a significant upcoming trip just days before his scheduled appearance at a UK charity event. According to a report by The Sun, the father of Archie and Lilibet will visit South Africa and Lesotho in early October, marking his first return to southern Africa since his 2019 visit with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their son, Prince Archie.
The announcement came from Sentebale, the charity founded by Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in 2006. Sentebale focuses on supporting children, young people, and their communities in the southern African countries of Lesotho and Botswana. “Prince Harry will be visiting Lesotho and South Africa in early October,” the organization confirmed ahead of his scheduled appearance in London.
Harry’s upcoming trip to southern Africa will be a meaningful return, as he will be joined by his longtime collaborator and Sentebale co-founding patron, Prince Seeiso. Their work through the charity has long focused on making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children in the region, and this visit is set to further advance the organization’s mission.
This trip will reflect the strategic direction Sentebale has been pursuing over the past year under the leadership of its Board Chair, Dr. Sophie Chandauka MBE. A global executive who grew up in the region, Chandrika has been instrumental in steering the charity towards expanding its impact and reach. The visit will involve collaboration with a group of corporate foundations and philanthropists, aiming to support sustainable development in southern Africa.
This group, made up of innovative funders, was first brought together by Sentebale and its strategic partner, LEBEC, earlier this year in Miami. LEBEC is a women-led firm specializing in innovative finance and philanthropy. Before heading to southern Africa, Prince Harry will attend a charity event in London for WellChild on September 30. WellChild, a UK-based charity, supports seriously ill children and their families, and Harry has been a longtime supporter of their work.
With his dual commitments to both WellChild and Sentebale, Prince Harry continues to demonstrate his dedication to charitable causes, particularly those focused on children’s welfare. His upcoming trip to southern Africa will no doubt highlight the ongoing importance of his work with Sentebale in the region.
