Selena Gomez was caught off guard during her appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert when the host inquired about her relationship with music producer Benny Blanco. While promoting her new film Emilia Perez, Gomez didn’t expect Colbert to ask such a direct question about her personal life.
“If you don’t mind me asking, where is this relationship going?” Colbert asked, leaving Gomez momentarily speechless. She responded with a surprised “Whoa” before joking, “I thought you were going to ask where was this picture taken?”
Despite the initial shock, Gomez kept it lighthearted, admitting she wasn’t sure where things were headed but was enjoying her time with Benny. “You know what, I’m not sure, but I’m having a great time,” she said.
Colbert, not letting the moment pass, asked if Benny was watching the show, then addressed him directly on air. “Benny,” Colbert said, turning to the camera, while Gomez reacted with an embarrassed “Oh no.” He went on to humorously call Benny “America’s dad” and quipped, “You must think you’re pretty special if you think you can do better than this, okay.”
He followed up by teasing, “I want to know what your intentions are with America’s daughter right over here?” To which Selena laughed and replied, “Oh yeah,” confirming that everything was going well in their relationship.
When asked if Benny could cook, Gomez was quick to reveal that he is an excellent chef. “He has a cookbook, he cooks every meal. It’s fantastic,” she shared, adding that Benny even took on the challenge of cooking Thanksgiving dinner for over 50 people. “I just watched him,” she said with a smile.
Colbert, continuing the playful banter, asked, “What are your intentions with him?” Selena responded with a laugh, enjoying the light-hearted conversation.
Gomez and Blanco have been dating since the summer of 2023, but it seems their relationship is already providing plenty of entertaining moments, as seen during their appearance on Colbert’s show.
