Tom Cruise is reportedly less than thrilled with actress Heather Locklear’s recent revelation about their past romantic encounter. In a chat with RadarOnline, Locklear shared that she and Cruise once went on a date, but her recollections have apparently left the Top Gun star unimpressed.
During the interview, Locklear, now 62, fondly recalled an audition she and Cruise did together many years ago. “We both did an audition for the film together—the two of us—and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m terrible,’” she admitted. However, she didn’t hold back when critiquing Cruise’s performance, joking, “‘He’s even worse!’ Neither of us got that part, by the way.”
Locklear also reminisced about Cruise coming to her house with fellow actor Sean Penn after the audition. “He ended up coming over to my house with Sean Penn. And they were just nice, but he was very, ‘yes ma’am’ to me, and I was like, ‘okay, sir,’” she said, describing Cruise as polite but somewhat formal.
The actress went on to confess that the pair went on a date, during which Cruise performed his famous knee-slide move from Risky Business in front of her. Though the moment might sound endearing, it seems Locklear wasn’t overly impressed by the gesture.
In response to Locklear’s revelations, a source told In Touch Weekly that Cruise wasn’t pleased with how the actress portrayed their date. “Tom hasn’t had much luck with women, so to say he was a lame date is pretty embarrassing coming from a bona fide sex symbol,” the insider revealed. The source also added, “It doesn’t help Heather saying unflattering things about him decades after their one date.”
The tipster further pointed out that while both actors were young at the time, it was still a sore point for Cruise. “Yes, they were both young at the time, but he must have learned a few things since then!” the source concluded.
Though Locklear’s confession appears lighthearted, it seems to have struck a nerve with Cruise, who, despite his Hollywood success, has often been the subject of public scrutiny regarding his personal life and relationships.
